Angela Evelyn Bassett was born in the US. Known for her work in film and television in the 1980s, she's won numerous awards including two Golden Globe Awards and sixteen NAACP Image Awards in addition to nominations for two Academy Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett is originally from New York New York. She was born in Winston-Salem North Carolina. Bassett relocated with her sister to St. Petersburg Florida at the age of five to be near their mother, who was separated from their father. When she was in high school Bassett was a spectator of John Steinbeck's play Of Mice and Men starring James Earl Jones and decided she wanted to pursue a career as an actor. Yale University New Haven Connecticut gave her a bachelor's degree (1980), in African American study, and an advanced degree (1983) at the Yale School of Drama. Courtney B. Vance was also an actor at Yale. The couple got married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. graduated from the Yale School of Drama School with a Master's Degree of African American studies, in the year 1980.
