Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Collins is an Mexican American Sportscaster. The present sportscaster is for ESPN and is anchor for SportsCenter news, as well as host of SportsNation. She was hired by ESPN in 2016. She is the daughter of journalists on TV Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta is bilingual since her age of nine. Her ability was crucial in securing her first post as a producer assistant at Univision Miami and Univision Miami, where she collaborated with producers of programs including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. Her first job was as a reporter for CBS St. Petersburg. CBS St. Petersburg affiliate in the following year. She was a reporter on KNVO TV 48 Univision in Rio Grande Valley Texas. Reporters covered issues related to migration and trafficking of drugs across both Texas as well as Mexico. In addition, she covered for weather and sports anchors. She then anchored and reported at Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was assigned more responsibility. She also did segments on the Major League Baseball's ALDS ALCS and World Series the Dallas Cowboys the NBA postseason as well as the Finals FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars. In addition, she hosted the local Univision 23 sports show Accion Deportiva Extra. The show was promoted to be a sports anchor for Despierta America Deportes' morning show. She worked in the same position as Primer Impacto on UniMas Network as well as Contacto Deportivo for its magazine show. Antonietta Collins was born and raised in the city of Veracruz, Mexico. The family moved towards Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born on November 1985. There is also a sister. In 1992 the family left Mexico in search of the US and settled in Miami. The couple divorced shortly following and in the year 1995, she got married to a naval designer called Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo died in 2006 of kidney cancer. It was during a summer vacation that she stayed together with her sister in Canton Ohio where the older Collins girl was offered an employment. Antonietta was at the end of her senior year in high school, but she had a clear idea of her professional goals. She visited Mount Union University to see if it was a good fit for her. The result was that she loved the school and they had the program she wanted. After completing her high school studies, she was accepted into the University to pursue media studies. They developed a lasting relationship with her professor Mark Bergmann who was the supervisor at WRMU 91.1 FM, a station of which she was a member. He guided her to become confident in herself and his enthusiasm for journalism had a profound impact on her as did she. She strived to live up to the expectations of him and not failed him.
